At the racetrack is where I spend most of my days…

As dull as it may sound, when it comes to racing, I prefer to be organized and informed. At the start of the year when I see tracks posting their schedules, I take my planner and fill in any event that we may possibly go to on every date. That includes local points races, big money bracket events, special races, and really anything that might interest us for the year. If you happen to see my calendar it may look a bit intimidating, but I can guarantee that if we want to race any given weekend- I’ll know where we can go! 😉

Our schedule this year includes 10 IHRA Division 9 points races at Greer Dragway, 8 NHRA Division 2 points races at Bristol Dragway, the IHRA Sportsman Spectacular at Farmington Dragway, an IHRA ironman event at South Carolina Motorplex, the Bristol Chevy Show, and the Super Chevy Show at Rockingham Dragway.

My main goal this season is qualifying for the IHRA Division 9 Bracket Finals at Darlington Dragway and being able to compete at the IHRA World Finals at Memphis International Raceway. Last season we both qualified for the IHRA bracket finals and Cody actually earned two spots (even though you can only run one) at the IHRA World Finals. The absolute dream is to have the opportunity to chase World Championships together! The NHRA Division 2 Bracket Finals at Rockingham happens to coincide with our wedding date (oops, but in my defense, our date has been chosen since 2018) so we most likely won’t be able to attend. Although, we are a pair of crazy dedicated drag racers, so we might have mentioned making the trip Sunday morning depending on the race format. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I’m also planning on making some noise at a few big money bracket races this season! We have raced in the World Footbrake Challenge every year since 2012 (fun fact: Cody and I met at the WFC in 2013) and I’m sure we will compete this year as well. There will be two separate Coalburg Racing Promotion events at Bristol in 2020; the 14th BTE World Footbrake Challenge July 2-5 and the Labor Day 100k September 3-6. Yes you read that correctly, a one hundred thousand dollar footbrake race, 35 minutes from where I live, so I can’t miss that opportunity! 💁🏼‍♀️

Next month is the 3rd annual ATI Performance Products Bigfoot 40k presented by Loose Rocker Promotions at Piedmont Dragway. Unfortunately, I couldn’t attend the last two years while it was being held at Darlington due to scheduling conflicts, but I am looking forward to attending this year! I would also like to make it back to Loose Rocker’s Fall Footbrake Frenzy but we will have to see how many vacation days I have left at work when November rolls around!

Typically, if there is a weekend where we do not have anything on the schedule we still try to find somewhere that is racing. To give you a better idea, I quickly counted the events that we will most likely attend and it totaled about 40 race days from March to November. Even our vacation falls in between two race weekends; so we will be on the beach Monday through Friday and on the track Saturday and Sunday. It’s probably an understatement to say that we enjoy spending most of our time drag racing together. 😂

Finally, I’d like to take a moment to acknowledge the amazing companies who help our racing program stay successful. When you compete in as many events as we do, you learn quickly that you must have the best equipment! I recommend any of the following businesses with full confidence that they will be able to take care of your needs; just click on their logo to check them out!
