Becoming a Champion

Becoming a Champion

Like many drag racers, I have goals that pertain to winning.

I strive to win rounds, which leads to winning races. That turns into winning track or series championships and eventually competing on the national level for world championships. (Dream big, right?!)

However, when it’s all said and done, there can only be one. One winner, one champion, and one person who reached the goal that we all were trying to achieve.

So, what does that mean for everyone else? Should the rest just give up?

No. We brush ourselves off, reset, and refocus on crushing those goals. đŸ’ȘđŸ»

Just because you don’t find success in the first, fifth, or even hundredth attempt doesn’t mean that it won’t ever materialize. More importantly, other people’s success does not detract from your own.

Read that last part again, because sometimes it’s a tough lesson.

It’s so easy to get caught up in a selfish mindset that causes jealousy when seeing someone else succeed. Maybe you feel that way when another person has accomplished something that you wanted to do.

You may find yourself wondering, “Why can’t that be me” or “They don’t deserve that as much as I do.”

I’m challenging you to stop those negative and destructive thoughts. Right now. 🛑

What good does it do to tear down someone else’s accomplishments? How does that bring you any closer to your goals? Honestly, what is the point?

“The unselfish effort to bring cheer to others will be the beginning of a happier life for ourselves.”

Helen Keller

I’ve been expanding my social media feeds to be filled with powerful and meaningful content. I find motivational accounts on Instagram to follow and have joined groups on Facebook that focus on inspiring others to follow their dreams.

I have also started to read a couple of encouraging books. (Check out Jamie Kern Lima’s inspiring story in her book, Believe It.)

Personally, it has been so helpful to push out the negative influence and focus on the positive! With these changes, I have also developed new goals. (See…my tangent is finally coming back to the original content. 😜)

I want to use my little corner of the internet to showcase the success of others. Along with chasing towards my personal goals, I want to spend time promoting those around me.

I want to be your self-esteem booster, the one cheering you on from the sidelines, your biggest fan!

To encourage people and build them up, not tear them down.

I want to celebrate their successes and push them to keep going if plans don’t go as well as expected.

We all remember the ad campaign, “Verb, it’s what you do.” (Or am I revealing my age with this? đŸ€”)

I’m going to put the action behind the title.

Whether it’s through win lights or my words, I will become a champion.

Until next time,
